When God Is Quiet, What Do You Do With the Silence?
There are seasons when you’re praying, waiting, and looking for direction—but nothing seems to move. What does faith look like when God feels quiet and the answer has not come?

There is a particular kind of discomfort that comes with not knowing. You can handle a clear yes. You can eventually accept a clear no. But silence is different. Silence leaves room for questions.
Did I miss something? Am I waiting for something God never promised? Should I keep praying? Should I move forward? Should I let it go?
Scripture gives us many examples of people who had to live faithfully without immediate answers. David wrote from places of confusion and waiting. Hannah prayed through years of grief. Abraham lived between promise and fulfillment. Joseph carried a dream through circumstances that seemed completely opposed to it. Their stories do not teach us that waiting is easy. They show us that God’s activity is not always visible while we are living through it.
Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart.
Waiting in Scripture is rarely passive. It can look like continuing to pray when you are tired of repeating the same prayer. Continuing to live faithfully when the outcome is unclear. Continuing to make wise decisions without having every answer. It means refusing to decide that God’s character has changed simply because your circumstances have not.
